Bangkok tramline

The construction of the first Bangkok tramline started in the year 1888, in the month of October. A Danish company opened this horse drawn tram from City Pillar to Thanon Tok. Soon after, the Tram Line was sold to a British company, named Bangkok Tramways Company Limited. The situation remained like that until the year 1891. In the meantime, the Royal Siamese Railway (RSR) was founded in 1890. In the following year, the construction of Bangkok-Ayuttaya-Nakhon Ratchasima Railway took place.

In the month of February, 1893 a major break through took place. Tram Line No. 1 was electrified. Later in April, the same year, Hualamphong-Paknam Railway was opened. A few years later, in 1897, railway line from Hualamphong to Ayutthaya was also opened. In the following years, between 1897 and 1900, many new extensions were made.
